CRYSTAL RIVER ARCHAEOLOGICAL STATE PARK - Contains mounds built by the coastal-dwelling peoples to mark their landscapes and bury their dead. Occupied for nearly 1500 years, this ceremonial site was the ritual focus of the hunter/gather/fisher peoples who lived along the Crystal River and the adjacent coastal marshes and estuaries.
